One thought unknowingly leads to another, creating a pattern of thinking.Once these patterns Create a long-term habits, it can be challenging to change them”.This Quote seems Valid but the real question is Why don’t we change until we suffer so much? What holds us back from embracing the change? Why do we hesitate to discover what truly means to live well in a world where we are often trapped in conditioned patterns of thinking?
Many of us carry wounds created by our own minds. As the Stoic philosopher Seneca2 wisely said, “We suffer more often in imagination than in reality.”isn’t this well said quote?It is indeed.Change is the ultimate reality of life. We are born as children and grow old as we age, experiencing change at every moment.
Yet, very few people seek to change themselves from within.We often fail to ask ourselves the important questions or explore the deep, hidden layers of our minds, where all suffering originates.
I enjoy reading short motivational stories, and I’d like to share the story of “The Rebirth Of an EAGLE ” You may heard this Famous Short story but I hope you grasp the deep, hidden meaning behind this tale. Let’s read it together!
There is an old story about the rebirth of an eagle. Eagles have the longest lifespan of their species, living up to 70 years. However, to reach this age, the eagle must make a tough decision when it turns 40. By this time, its long and flexible talons can no longer grasp food, its sharp beak becomes bent, and its heavy wings make flying difficult.Then the eagle is left with only two options.Die or go through the painful process of change.
the eagle chooses the Painful Path.This process requires the eagle to fly to the mountaintop and sit in its nest. There, it begins by knocking its beak against a rock until it plucks it out. The eagle then waits for a new beak to grow back before plucking out its talons. Once its new talons have grown, the eagle starts removing its old feathers. After this transformation, the eagle takes its famous flight and lives for an additional 30 years.

What can we learn from this story?
Why is change necessary for the Peace of mind? It’s essential for our Survival and growth, isn’t it? While change can be painful but we must begin the process if we truly want to find meaning in our lives. Like the eagle, we need to let go of unpleasant memories, negative habits, and rigid mindsets. Embracing change allows us to soar to new heights.We must free ourselves from past wounds and embrace the present. The present moment is an ocean of infinite health, wealth, and intelligence.
Mastering the Mind: Difficult but Possible
The human mind and its control is a subject of great interest to us, as our minds have the most significant influence on our lives. Each of us possesses some understanding of this topic and attempts to manage our minds for personal growth and development. However, it’s crucial to delve deeper and understand the problems we create in our daily lives.Can anyone assist us in this endeavour? Ultimately, we are the best judges of our own minds. No one can understand us better than we can, as we cannot hide our true selves from ourselves.
To deepen our understanding, we can learn from people and books, but we should not rely solely on anyone or anything. We must avoid searching for a magic pill in our journey of self-discovery. True growth comes from within, and it’s essential to embrace the process of understanding ourselves independently.If we truly love this game of mastering the mind, then nothing is impossible for us. Yes, it requires skills like attention, kindness, consistency, and, most importantly, fearlessness. This fearlessness empowers us to persevere, even in the face of countless setbacks.
Let’s explore the other half of the article: the “Timeless Teachings Of Bhagavad Gita” If you read the Gita, you may find answers to many of life’s questions. However, many people struggle to grasp its true meaning. Why is that? It’s because we often get stuck on the words and our own imaginations, preventing us from discovering the essence of the Gita, which lies beyond mere words and the limits of the human mind.
In the Gita, there is a moment when Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna “how to achieve the ultimate state of Bliss?”.After listening to him, Arjuna, filled with desperation, says, “Hey Madhusudhan3! I’m not sure how to maintain the balanced, steady state of mind you described, especially since the mind is so easily swayed.” “O Krishna! The mind is restless, strong, and stubborn. I find it as difficult to control as trying to control the wind.”
Sri Krishna, Knowing the reality of Arjuna mind, listens to his sufferings Calmly and provides an answer that offers timeless guidance for all.The whole Indian philosophy and meditation practice of controlling the mind, or Manonigrah4, is based on this teaching of Shri Krishna. He says, “O strong-armed one! Yes, the mind is restless and hard to control, but, O Arjuna, with practice and detachment, it can be mastered.”

From the above conversation, we get three basic facts regarding mind control.
- Self-control has always been a very difficult task even for Strong man like Arjuna.
- Even then it is possible to control the mind.
- There are Well-defined methods of Mind control.
In the two words “practice and detachment,” Shri Krishna reveals the entire secret of self-control. Throughout the ages, all the saints and enlightened beings of India have echoed this truth. They affirm that there is no other way to control the mind except through consistent practice and calm detachment.
We can refer to another conversation between Ramakrishna and a devotee, where Ramakrishna highlights an important point to remember:
“Don’t stay quiet just because if there’s something happening in your mind. Move forward! There are greater things beyond sandalwood—like silver mines and gold mines!”
The devotee replies, “Yes, but the mind is held back by its attachments.”
Ramakrishna – What happens by binding the feet? It is about the real mind. Man is bound by the mind and is freed by it.
Sir – my mind is not even in my control.
Sri Ramakrishna – What is this! Abhyasa Yoga- Practice, then you will see that wherever you take your mind, it will go there. The mind is the cloth of the washerman. If you bring it from there and paint it with red colour, it will become red and if you paint it with sky, it will become sky. The colour with which you paint, the same colour will climb on it.
Ramakrishna: “What does it mean to be bound by the feet? It’s about the true nature of the mind. A person is tied down by their mind, but they can also be freed by it.”
Devotee: “But my mind is not even under my control.”
Sri Ramakrishna: “What do you mean? Through Abhyas Yoga5 —practice—you’ll find that wherever you direct your mind, it will follow. The mind is like a piece of cloth. If you take it and dye it red, it will turn red; if you dye it blue, it will turn blue. The color you apply will be what it becomes.”
While practice and detachment are indeed the keys to controlling the mind, the important question is how to incorporate these qualities into our lives. To achieve this:
